PLEASE NOTE, This is an AWARD FREE BLOG unless it's the international This of That Society wanting to bestow the International Blogger of the Year award a big trophy and a brand new Jaguar.
I am no longer accepting the kindly intentioned chain-letter type awards bloggers give each other and then have to give to ten other bloggers. No time but lots of appreciation...

Okay...what did you think? I was a bit overwhelmed by the gore and extreme darkness.
ReplyDeleteI'm still withholding judgment. I was not especially enamored of the opener, kind of liked episode two - saw some potential there, but tonight was fairly cringe-cover your eyes-inducing for me.
I will probably watch the next epidsode, just to see Sookie hook up with Eric - been waiting for that moment - but there's something lacking this season...can't quite put my finger on it.
I think what is missing is Sookie's innocence, and with that, our own. Is Bill the only "nice" vampire on Earth? The other characters are not as enjoyable as they are on the written page.
ReplyDeleteBy digressing so far, last year, from the books, with Mary Ann, they changed Sookie too much from the book character that made us read the books. In the books she becomes more savvy but slowly.
The gore didn't bother me because it was somewhat comical.
I think Sookie gets it on with Eric and Alcide. Maybe not in the same week.
Also, in the books the "back story" or the stuff that doesn't involve Sookie is less prevalent. I guess that the show would be boring if they just said: And, then Jason met..."
The break up with Bill was not the same betrayal as in the books. And, dang, I wish Bill had twisted Lorena's head right off.
I also think Bill must suck in bed (no pun intended but it is there). There is very little fore play, And usually it looks downright bruising!
Yes, I think that's a big part of it - what I'm missing is Sookie's innocence. She doesn't lose it so quickly in the books. I also miss the dark humor - there is some, but not enough for me. I know True Blood does not follow the books except in a general way, but I want to watch True Blood to be charmed in the same way the books have charmed me.
ReplyDeleteLast season with Maryanne, Tara and Eggs nearly put me off watching permanently. Too many side stories when I want the focus on a few primary stories.
No kidding I wish Bill had twisted Lorena's head right off!
