A Mish-Mash Monday & A Possible New Logo

I hit this Monday with a whimper. Even though I didn't do very much at all over this past weekend I find myself without much to say and feeling a trifle blah.  I am reading a book I find ho-hum and I continue to read it hoping it will redeem itself. Its Ho-hum-edness is probably what is making me feel this way. I will write more about it later because I am going to slog my way on through and now you are wondering what it is are you not?

So, in checking the web I find I was admitted into Book Blogs and I have been looking around.

I found a very interesting place, the Book Drum.  It is filled with special ideas that allow the expression of a book by "...combin[ing] photography, maps, video and music to go beyond the pages of the books we love." http://www.bookdrum.com/

I can see this in what authors are doing with their websites and by offering play lists and tours; Karen Marie Moning is a particularly good example. Her site offers some good map-like aspects to bring The Fever Series' Dublin to us in a way a plain map could not.  She also offers play lists.  Her link appears in my link list. If a book makes you want to do more to it, to bring your feelings for it out check this site.  If you have ideas that are aural or visual about books, or just want to see a different and very creative approach to books, check it out! (Contest previously discussed is over so I have removed that info)

What would I like today (other than calorie free ice cream that is as good as regular without artificial seeteners)?  I would really like to know what your favorite books, characters and sub-genres are. What puts you off of a book and/or what makes you write to an author and beg for a sequel -- to be published immediately?

Myself, I like books with strong women characters and relationships that have more than sex. I like plot to be central, with character growth also important.  Maybe I never left books with morals to them - I like worlds that are consistent within themselves, but without the added burden of a new language or the changing of a term just to be different.  I prefer PNR and UF  written by women. Probably sexist , but I find it more respectful, and more from a woman's POV.

I like the characters to have the aforementioned relationship before they fall into bed and I am wary when the characters go from animosity to hot monky loving in less time than it takes to make a cup of espresso.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the potential new logo at the top of the page.
So, if you want to be heard and don't feel like getting your own blog, make a comment!

Want to remind you (if you need it) that the new season of True Blood begins NEXT SUNDAY! Are you excited?
I have to get over to the YMCA and work out because they haven' come out with that ice cream yet!

Am I excited about True Blood? Lets put it this way, for Christmas hubs bought me a Fangtasia cami that I have not worn yet, saving it for the 13th, 2 True Blood thongs and a thermos for my coffee that says I like my vamps hot blond and viking ;) Got hooked on season 1 first then bought the books for dd at Christmas and then we both devoured them and fell hook line and sinker! The 22 yr old dd loves Bill and the 29 yr old loves Eric.

Like you, I love a good heroine, I can not stand wimpy weepy goody goodies. I like Anita Blake, though the last few have been rough reading for me, the sex is just too over the top and I don't like what Hamilton did with Richard's character.

Love the Fever series, can't wait for Shadow Fever. The ending of Dream Fever just about killed me! I like her Highlander series as well, though it does ride the fence as far as being a quick hop in the sack. How she blends the world of the McKeltars into the Fever series was cool.

Then you have Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress. Just kill me now! I love Bone's. This series just rocks for me! Didn't like her 1st spin off book- First Drop Of Crimson as much as I hoped, but her 2nd spin off Eternal Kiss Of Darkness looks fantastic, hope it is.

Ok, I've rambled a boat load, and yes I am wondering what book you're reading. I've only allowed myself to trudge through one time and I won't ever do it again. Put that ? up on my blog here-

The new logo is gorgeous! I love it.

That is too funny - I like to have champagne or prosecco with blood orange slices for premieres of vamp stuff. Having read the series of this I am a bit more fond of Eric b/c Bill mislead Sookie. Eric is a bit straighter with her.

I haven't read Frost yet. You should check out Laurell K. Hamilton.

I agree that the Highlander series is like: "I hate you, I hate you, okay lets get married and have a baby!" But the boys make up for it. I have been to Scotland and may have stayed if the men were really like the McKeltars (of course my husband is just like them).

I will talk about the current read tomorrow or today.

Thanks about the logo - It took hours. the fairy is public domain - I am not that good an artist!
THere are so many books to read.
