Soul of Fire
Well friends we are getting down to it and the witch versus vampire war has gone to another level with Bill, Pam, Eric and Jessica defying Nan’s edict not to spill human blood. The looks ahead have offered freakishly shocking and terrifying images. As I said, they aren’t going to let the good times roll in Bon Temp.
For anyone who doesn’t know French Bon Temps is French for Good Times and the phrase Let the good times roll is much associated with mardis gras which is much associated with Louisiana. Laissez les bon temps roulet is how you might say it with an insouciant grin when you were in New Orleans. (the verb tense on the roulet and the Laissez
Could be wrong- if you know please tell me.)
What’s going to happen?
As you know I type this as it happens, then watch over and over and over again to make sure I have it correct. In two weeks I get to go to bed at a normal time; I won’t be waking my husband up at 2 or 3 AM as I crawl into bed muttering about Eric and Sookie.
Here we go
Outside MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM Jessica says she is so sick of silvering, feels like she did when she had PMS.
Bill says the objective to kill the witch finish it tonight.
She wants it done, Pam says, before 4:mdash; she has a mani-pedi.
In the coven “Martonia” says, “The vampires are outside with automatic weapons. What idiots.” Sookie says they’re here to blow it all up. Casey expresses a wish to leave; Marnie tells the coven they can leave throwing her knife onto the floor. The vampires that Marnie is controlling are standing ready. Enraged that they are all going to die Casey rushes “Martonia,”
The knife flies through the air allowing “Martonia” to kill Casey.
Marnie pukes out Antonia. Only Lafayette can see. Says “Marnie just puked a bitch out. Realizes its Antonia.” Antonia denounces Marnie. Antonia tells her “Evil has blossomed in you,” and that their time together has come to an end. Marnie say she can’t leave and uses a binding spell and although Antonia fights it she is reabsorbed. Jesus says they are fucked.
Vampires, outside MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM: They are about to attack, when Jason races in to stop them because Sookie is inside. They express anger at Sookie for being in the way. Jason defends Sookie against their “Fuckin’ Sookies.” He asks if they are nuts reminds Eric she took him in, and that Bill used her like his own private soda fountain.
They decide to abort. Pam is pissed off, “Holy shit gentleman do not tell me you put our entire species at risk for a gash in a sundress. Jason shows them the protective spell wall. Bill says they have to disable it. Walking after Jessica as she goes to put her flamethrower he agrees with Bill and then out of human hearing
Image via WikipediaAside: Jason trying to talk to Jessica and she tells him that he is the furthest thing from her mind. As he says “good.” Bill and Eric are attacked by Marnie’s Vampires.
Marcus’ motorcycle shop. Sam is trying to find out where Marcus is from the pack member there. He holds a gun to his head but hands it to Alcide. They discuss being accessories to murder. Luna comes in looking for Marcus; he stole Emma out of school. She sees Sam and asks why he’s there. He tells her about Tommy and she had not known he was dead.
This isn’t wolf it is right and wrong, plain and simple. Pack member says he’d be back that’s all he knows.
Debbie, Marcus and Emma at Alcide’s: Marcus is trying to convince Debbie to go away with him. Emma comes in, She wants to talk to her mom. Marcus tells her to go color. He turns back to Debbie telling her that the two of them make sense together. He will get her off the V. She tells him she has tried and some days she doesn’t know if she wants to get off. Marcus says the V is filling the emptiness of Alcide not giving her children. He needs a real were for a mother for Emma.
Pulling away Debbie tells Marcus she can’t, because she loves Alcide.
She tells him she is with him because Alcide has been unfaithful. Marcus doesn’t buy it, embraces her and tells her they need to pack a bag and leave. <i> I can’t tell whether she has realized he is nuts here or not.</i>
At MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM Jesus says Casey has a pulse. Marnie says look she isn’t a murderer.
Jesus begs her to let him save her asks for supplies and he and Lafayette take Casey to the bathroom where Lafayette realizes she is dead. Jesus says he knows but they need Casey’s body to force Antonia out of Marnie.
Marnie tells the group she is sorry, the whole thing was self-defense. Holly asks why she would do such a thing. Sookie says she heard she was she was kind and loving. Marnie says she was a doormat and prefers being what people are scared of. Doesn’t want to be patronized or coddled. “Casey attacked me!” she yells, “I had every right. I am not a punching bag.” “I get it.” Sookie tells her; people are finally respecting her after feeling like an outsider, misunderstood, picked on. Tells Marnie that she just wants a connection.
Holly says she has connection; they all on her side they’re are friends, Sookie tells Marnie she can end this, that she has all the power. Marnie smiles and nods.
Andy on his long walk home is cursing out Terry. He start to talk to himself with alternate negative personality. Tells himself to hold it together. He sees a light in the woods: The light turns into a fae, who tells him to stay away. When he says she can trust him he’s police, she repels him with a bright, Sookie like light. It is more yellow than Sookie’s light.
Emma at Alcide’s alone downstairs calls her mom.
Luna is still with Sam saying how Marcus and Emma probably long gone. She gets a call but Emma doesn’t know where she is. Sam and Alcide look at the phone number. Alcide realizes it’s his phone number.
Eric is holding Marnie’s Female vamp at her neck with his foot. The male vamp has been staked as there is not much of him. Bill pulls his heart from the mess and asks waving it in the robot vampires face asks if she sees what following will get her. Eric tells him not to bother that Martonia had complete control and was a robot. Pam pulls her vintage Cartier necklace off, Bill asks if there is nothing that can be done to save her. The female vamp says it is he that needs saving.
Bill calls to Martonia, “Antonia, show your face witch, hiding behind magic like a coward does not become you.”
Inside, looking at Holly and Sookie, Marnie says, “You’re right, it’s time for negotiation.” She dons a leather jacket and tells Sookie to join her. Sookie calls out that Marnie wants to negotiate. The female robo-vamp says I only serve Antonia. Bill tells her to be quiet. Martonia gives her the hincarle (lit. sink in Spanish?) rex , kill the king command and the female leaps up to attack Bill. He repels her throwing her into the protective spell’s wall. The vampire painfully burns to cinder.
“Amazing isn’t it: the power of the sun harnessed,” Marnie says. Most people can’t get through it but it kills a vampire with just a touch. Retracting his fangs, Bill tells her that it doesn’t matter what she hides behind, she has killed her last vampire. She says he is optimistic.
Bill tells Marnie to let the girl (Sookie) go, but Marnie is sarcastic, Oh, you want to negotiate?
Eric growls out “Let the girl go.” Marnie says fine she can go but I’ll need something in exchange.
Bill says “What?” and Eric says “Anything.”
Marnie says, “Your lives, kill yourselves; both of you. ” As Sookie begs Marnie to make them a real offer Bill and Eric accept if she keeps her word to set Sookie free. Marnie says she will be as free as a resurrected bird. Which given the 15 second life span of her resurrected parrot isn’t much of a promise.
Tells Marnie if she reneges she will never leave the building alive and that everyone she ever cared for will be slaughtered without mercy. Marnie nods.
Bill is going to shoot Eric and then Pam will shoot Bill. Agreed. Sookie starts to cry. They see it and Bill smiles slightly.
Pam, sobs out something like Meet the true death over some bo peep I don’t fucking think so. And shoots a bazooka, or something like it, towards Marnie as Jason yells and Bill says Pam I forbid you.
The spell doesn’t break but there is a huge blast that shakes everything inside and out as the energy rebounds.
At Alcide’s: Luna rushes in to grab her child. Alcide hushes her and Luna asks where Marcus is Emma says he is upstairs with that lady. Alcide realizes that Marcus is with Debbie. Sam tells Luna to take Emma outside.
Upstairs, Debbie is telling Marcus that he has to go that she feels guilty. Sam and Alcide burst in. There is the usual round of It’s not what you think and then the menfolk insult each other. Marcus says it’s just like a shifter to hide behind a gun they come from coward or common stock. Sam shoots back that Marcus his behind five men when he killed his brother. Putting the gun at the foot of the bed Sam offers hand-to-hand combat says he will snap his neck with his own hand. Debbie lunges for the gun, but Alcide throws her back to the bed as the two men start fighting.
Marnie tells Sookie look they don’t care about you, there is no negotiating they see it as weakness and she is not weak. Roy agrees, “You sure as shit ain’t.” Jesus and Lafayette casting a sell on Casey’s body. Her body will amplify the magic.
Jesus warns Lafayette the thing will get scary; that Lafayette may see and hear things he doesn’t want to. Lafayette says that that ship has already sailed. Jesus continues his instructions and preparations, telling Lafayette not to take anything he says or does personally. He might end up in his demonic face, he doesn’t know. Pulls knife out of Casey, which Lafayette isn’t too happy with. Jess makes Lafayette take the knife.
Using Casey’s blood he draws symbols on himself and in Spanish begins a chant that I partially translated as blood of ___open the gate between this world and the other. He tastes the blood almost retching and then magic takes him and he is strong.
Outside, Eric is berating Pam . Jessica is singed, as Bill asks her if she is okay, she says yes and then says Suicide? “Don’t ever do that to me again.” They hear groaning, and it is Jason badly hurt, burned she has to give him her blood to save him.
Andy comes to, Fae tells Andy she is sorry she hurt him out but he smells like a vampire. She says she knows now that he is not. Where did she come, from what is she doing, why is she is on top of him, he asks. Her name is Morella. Morella kisses Andy he responds telling her she is beautiful. She makes him pledge to protect her because she is vulnerable in his world. She makes him swear to the light. She says “It is sworn.” They make love.
Sam and Marcus are fighting, destroying Alcide’s bedroom. It goes back and forth. Alcide tries to intervene for Sam who tells him to back off, Debbie tries Sam chokes Marcus with his knee. Debbie tries to help Marcus but Alcide stops her, as he tells him he is not a man, that he is pathetic weak and small, but he stops short of killing him. Marcus starts to go wolfen and grabs for the gun, Alcide jumps Marcus and the gun shoots several times. Both wolfen-eyed now Alcide has Marcus by the neck. He lets off but Marcus chokes to death anyway.
Debbie says, “Oh God, What did you do?” Alcide growls at her, You.” but she goes on,”It’s alright it’s okay we can fix this.”
He says to her the formal words of dismissing her from his life, “Debbie Pelt, I abjure you.”
“No, please don’t.” she begs. But even as she exhibits denial and shock, he continues, “I see you no longer, I hunt with you no longer, I share flesh with you no longer. She is sobbing as he walks out. Sam picks up the gun and follows her out. She alls to her knees, alone in a ruined bedroom with her dead alpha.
At MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM Marnie is scrying using a pool of Casey’s blood. She asks for the present and it shows her the vampires outside. She asks for the future and it shows her dead. She lies, “The vampires are planning on murdering us all, quickly form a circle.” They hesitate.
“I saw it in the blood! If we do nothing we’re signing our own death warrants. They have no regard for our lives, so just join me now. They go to her.
Jesus is carving some letters into his arm (possibly an X and a T), then he demands Lafayette tie his hands with Marnie’s green scarf . He tells Lafayette to put some of the mixture they made earlier; it burns, but Jess won’t let him stop. He says the scarf symbolizes the bond between Marnie and Antonia and that they have to break it.
In common area at MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM , Sookie is standing back. Marnie tells her that she wishes for everyone to leave here alive but doesn’t guarantee it. I think she was telling her that if Sookie doesn’t join up that she will make sure she doesn’t. Sookie joins the circle
Outside Jason is healed but vamps stat to be pulled to the wall of protection. Sookie hears Jason trying to stop it.
As the coven chants they are be pulled to it. . The wall is glowing and expanding. “Stop this Sook!” Jason yells in his mind.
Sookie fairy fires destroying the circle and it stops.
Jessica screams that she is so sick of this Necromancy shit!
Pam is beseeching Eric to forgive her. She knew the protection spell would spare Sookie. He tells her to get out of his sight before he kills her.
Marnie is mad at Sookie that she crossed her and incarcerates her in a circle a wall of fire. Locks others in the coven to the wall saying they have all betrayed her. As the fire is creeping towards Sookie and she begs, “Oh God,” Marnie is smiling. At one point she says that God has nothing to do with it. Lafayette sees this and tells Jesus to hurry it up.
Chanting Jesus’ voice is changing, amplifying and modulating, the scene goes back and forth
Bill and Eric hear Sookie’s fear.
Jesus is pulling Antonia out, he goes into demon form and he breathes fire on the scarf . As the bond breaks Antonia comes out I think she says thank god. She holds her hands in a prayerful position and disappears. It looked a bit as if she were beamed up. Marnie cries out. The fire around Sookie goes out the rest of the coven is released. Tara says she quits this group. She runs in to hug Sookie. Jesus and Lafayette are back to “normal.” Whatever that means when one person is a medium and the other is a brujo.
The Protective wall is released. Eric and Bill charge in Bill has an automatic. Sookie tells him not to shoot; they were all hostages. He says, “Just Marnie.” and everyone clears away Except Roy who says they will have to go through him. So Eric does and then drinks the blood out of the aorta (I guess) in front of Marnie.
Bill shoots her as she yells, “No one lives forever, not even you.” She falls just as in her vision.
Aftermath
Sam comes out from Alcide’s house. Emma runs to him happy to see Sam but obviously expecting Marcus too. Luna hugs her he let’s Luna know with his eyes tha Marcus didn’t make it.
Back at the Bellefleur’s house, Arlene is asking Andy what happened, that Terry has been driving all around looking for him.
They sit at the table and Arlene asks him what is wrong. He tells her about the fairy, he heard a zap and a woman jumps out of a ball of lite, then we made love and I was good at it. Anyway after she jumped back in the ball of light and vanished like magic.
Arlene asks him to remember when Terry went off his meds.
“I ain’t crazy.” He counters. She says the V may had touched his mind too.
“But it felt so real,” “She says she is sure it did, but what’s real is that he has a family that loves him, Holly thinks he’s cute, he’s the sheriff: these are the <i>real things</e>. She goes to call Terry.
He sits reflecting and says her name, “Morella.”
At MOON GODDESS EMPORIUM, Eric iforms Bill that he glamored those he requested. Lafayette trieys to comfort Jesus. He’s crying Lafayette tells him he did what he had to do.
Eric and Bill are walking away from Sookie, They look at each other , back at her and she at them.
Jason sits alone at a table, Jess comes by with a glass of water and asks how he’s feeling.
Jason: Much better, Sookie’s good, I can see again, Thanks for, you know. He smiles.
Jessica: You’re welcome.
He drinks some water.
Jason: So, I drank your blood again.
Jessica: Well it was either that or die
Jason: I know, I know we’re in a world of fucked up I will lose my best friend, Jessica: don’t tell me about loss
Jason: Ah, Even withuth your blood in me you’re all I think about. what the hell am I am I supposed to do now?
Jessica: Wish I knew.
Lafayette and Jesus in bed: Lafayette tells Jesus that even with everything he’s seen tonight there was some freaky shit.
Jesus sad about Marnie.
Lafayette says Marnie was a big girl and made her own decision to hold people hostage and murder her friends. That bad juju was going gto come back to her.
Jesus agrees but still he is feeling guilt.
Lafayette tells him not to forget that he saved people. “We’re alive, we’re safe, be happy for that.”
Jesus replies that he is.
Lafayette kisses Jesus who is falling asleep.
Lafayette starts to fall asleep, Something makes him open his eyes. He sees Marnie above the bed , when he opens his mouth in shock she dives in and posesses him .
Inside this episode: I love these because I am fascinated with how all these decisions are made.
