Makenna James thinks her day can’t get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.
Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he’s terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he’s trapped in his own worst nightmare.
To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?
HEARTS IN DARKNESS is the 2012 EPIC eBook Award Winner for Best Novella of 2012!

This is the hottest story I have ever read. I could describe the effect it had on me but I would blush if I ever met you in person. Enough Said!
It's hot because the physical affection combines with a strong emotional attraction. Laura can even take a scene where the couple stays mostly clothed and turn it into a scorcher. But, there's mutual respect as well. No one is debased, even titillatingly. That's especially important in short erotica which can easily become a sea of terms for body parts that make me cringe a little.
When fate steps in and brings two unlikely people together that is magic, so while this is out-of-genre it really is as supernatural as vampires and shifters. And that is exactly what happens in this story where two people for whom a meeting may never have occurred, are brought together by something as small as a short circuit.
And, in the 110 pages you actually get a plot, and character development. The characters are pretty complicated as well, with history and surprises awaiting.
This is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED romantic piece; and if you are a fan of short erotica it is an ABSOLUTE MUST READ! I predict elevators stopping in cities everywhere in the near future. Oops!
My only complaint is that it was TOO SHORT and I WANT MORE McKenna and Caden!
