This was free on Kindle and after reading BARED TO YOU I wanted to read another tale by Sylvia Day to see more of her writing style. I really enjoyed the love story part of the book, and I also enjoyed the world Sylvia was building after a bit. At first I was confused by the new names and relationships.
This is a quick novella, so unless there is going to be a paranormal destiny reason later in the series, I did feel the mutual attraction to emotional attachment was a bit sudden or ungrounded. But within a short story Sylvia did manage to get a lot of character development in, and relayed the world-rules information skillfully. There's also a fair bit of suspense.
If you want to read some of Sylvia's work this is a good starter at a great price and as a prequel should be a great intro to the series. I like these freebies because they give you that idea of whether you're going to enjoy the writer's work and I can tell you about this freebie. After all, the book might be free but your time probably is at a premium. The intimate scenes in BARED TO YOU are more graphic than in DARK KISS OF RAPTURE but it is still steamy.
