Thanks for having me as your guest today, Steph. Love the artwork! I enjoyed writing about fairy tales, my inspiration for LITTLE RED RIDING WOLF, and I’m looking forward to responding to comments and giving away an e-copy to one lucky reader!
I’ve always been intrigued by fairy tales. Lost princesses, shape-changing spells, evil witches. By the end of third grade I had read every fairy tale book we had in the library at least twice and ever since I’ve been hungry for more. Maybe it’s the romanticism, maybe it’s the happy endings, maybe it’s because the heroines are usually stronger than anyone really thinks. Whatever it is, I love fairy tales.
And the bonus is that as an author I can twist and turn them however I please.
They say that there are only seven plots in the world so really we are all twisting the life out of those seven every time we write. Add some heat, flip the poor lost little girl on its head, and move the story into the modern century and that’s how a poor little lost girl became RED. Sexy. Ready to grow up fast. And she’s a werewolf.
In the Colorado Rockies there are no wolves.
