An accomplished lawyer and driven single mother, Ellen Callahan isn’t looking for any help. She’s doing just fine on her own. So Ellen’s more than a little peeved when her brother, an international pop star, hires a security guard to protect her from a prying press that will stop at nothing to dig up dirt on him. But when the tanned and toned Caleb Clark shows up at her door, Ellen might just have to plead the fifth.

Back home after a deployment in Iraq and looking for work as a civilian, Caleb signs on as Ellen’s bodyguard. After combat in the hot desert sun, this job should be a breeze. But guarding the willful beauty is harder than he imagined—and Caleb can’t resist the temptation to mix business with pleasure. With their desires growing more undeniable by the day, Ellen and Caleb give in to an evening of steamy passion. But will they ever be able to share more than just a one-night stand? www.randomhouse.com

I really loved this book, from the characters, to the plot to the silly comic relief, this book was one I enjoyed from cover to over. The characters were not typical.  Ellen is damaged: hurt by a total jerk whose alcoholism added to the pain he caused her.  Caleb is really interesting, nuanced.  I loved the touch of his mother being a Lebanese woman who converted.  It just added to the character's past and heritage, as did his time in Iraq.

The situation was certainly different. Ellen's rock star twin brother went out with her neighbor who was pregnant via IVF, and the fertility treatments had ended the marriage. But what ended their relationship was his rock star ass-hattedness.

But, his presence in the neighbor, Carly's life brings the press, in drooves, to this small Ohio town and Caleb shows up as security hired to protect her, her son and her neighbor. Recovering form her faithless marriage, Ellen doesn't want to give up her personal power to security: to fences, alarms and lights. I was mystified by it, but yet, when your life has been glued back together after coming apart the littlest thing can be a threat.

As she and Caleb get closer, the physical relationship heats up.  Apparently her ex sucked in the sack.  And, there;s the usual "boy gets girl, girl loses boy," you know -- romance is going to have to use on of those seven stories. But, it's really a lot of fun to read how that works itself out.   Lots of fun.  Good, dirty fun.  If you like sexy, steamy, hot romance with a side of chick lit then this is a MUST READ!

At $2.99 I would call it a good value!

As  I greedily ate up the final pages I was thinking how much I had enjoyed it.  No long paragraph about anything but this: it just made me feel good.
